Catholic Theology and Catechesis

Purpose

The certificate in Catholic Theology and Catechesis establishes catechists as certified to teach in diocesan parishes, ministries, and schools. The certificate provides advanced theological and pastoral training for catechists, directors of religious education, teachers, and those who want to better understand and teach their faith.

Program-Level Student Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Upon completion of the Certificate in Catholic and Catechesis completers will be able to:

  1. Assess a theological or ministerial problem by the appropriate use of Catholic scripture.
  2. Apply the theological principles of Catholic systematic theology to contemporary theological, spiritual, or ministerial problems.
  3. Organize significant Christian events historically.

The certificate in Catholic Theology and Catechesis is awarded after the completion of 24 credit hours (8 three-hour classes) to be completed in 2-4 years.
