PHAS 5727 Patient Assessment: Interviewing and Physical Examination
This course will introduce the first semester PA student to the elements of obtaining a patient history and conducting a comprehensive physical exam, organized by organ system. Other key concepts will be introduced including: routine health maintenance, patient-centered care, cultural competency, diversity in patient populations, and interprofessional communication. Students will also be introduced to the structure and components of medical documentation. Topics will be presented in-depth weekly during lecture and while skills will be practiced during separate laboratory sessions conducted in small groups.
