NUTR 4305 Human Nutrition and Metabolism

This course explores the essential role of food and nutrition in physical well-being, covering nutrient digestion, absorption, metabolism and interactions.  Students will learn about essential nutrients, their functions and sources, and apply nutrition guidelines to personal diets.  The curriculum also includes advanced topics such as lipoprotein and energy metabolism, system integration and regulation in mammals, and an introduction to nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics, focusing on the roles of epigenetics and microRNA.
