MATH 2315 General Statistics
This course introduces the students to both descriptive and inferential statistics. Emphasis is placed on applications of making decisions in the presence of uncertainty. In order to provide hands on experiences to the students, a number of activities will be made available. This is a one semester course providing an introduction to standard topics such as the organization of data, measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability, probability distributions for discrete and continuous random values, the normal distribution, statistical inference, the standard normal distribution, Chi-square distribution, inference concerning two population parameters, regression and correlation, analysis of variance, and nonparametric statistics. This course may be delivered in a blended or online format.
