Program Mission
The mission of the Master of Health Administration program at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University is to improve the health of individuals and communities by forming inspired early and mid- careerists into compassionate, competent and spiritual servant managers and leaders for health service organizations.
Program Purpose
The purpose of the Health Administration program is to prepare students for rewarding careers as healthcare managers in a variety of settings. This online MHA program is interdisciplinary in nature, catering to healthcare professionals and executives across the health system. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be productive in areas such as acute care, primary care facilities, medical group practices, long-term care facilities, public health organizations, health insurance agencies, alternative delivery organizations, federal, state and local agencies, pharmaceutical and other related organizations.
Program Level Student Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
The MHA curriculum prepares students for career advancement by providing in-depth application of contemporary health policy and health management issues and situations. MHA students and graduates apply their newly acquired knowledge immediately. To this end, students enrolled in the MHA program will be expected to:
- Integrate Franciscan Values and principles and ethics in decision making for healthcare Administration
- Demonstrate leadership skills and competencies in healthcare organizations.
- Analyze information relevant to the delivery of effective and efficient healthcare services.
- Evaluate evidence-based data in managerial decision-making.
- Examine legal and compliance issues and policies in the delivery of healthcare services.
- Synthesize innovative strategic solutions for healthcare organizations.
Students may declare the MHA Direct Entry pathway upon admission to FranU. Admissions to the MHA Direct Entry pathway requires students meet the admission requirements for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) - Health Administration track.
The BBA admissions requirements are the same as admissions to the University (see undergraduate admissions / transfer admissions).
Criteria to matriculate to the MHA program:
- Completion of 30 credit hours of BBA coursework (BADM/ECON/HADM/MGMT/MKTG) with a C or better and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Continued enrollment in the MHA Direct Entry pathway requires students to:
- Earn a C or better in all BBA coursework (BADM/ECON/HADM/MGMT/MKTG)
- Earn no more than 2 C's in MHA coursework
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Students can be accepted into the Master in Health Administration (MHA) Direct Entry pathway in the fall, spring or summer. Students may enroll on a full-time or part-time basis.
At successful completion of the MHA Direct Entry pathway, a student will be eligible to graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree and a Master's in Health Administration (MHA) degree.
Successful completion of the MHA Direct Entry pathway requires:
- Successful completion of general education requirements
- Successful completion of a minimum of 3 service-learning courses
- Successful completion of 137 credit hours as noted in the curriculum plan
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on all college work and a grade of C or better in all BBA related coursework (BADM/ECON/HADM/MRKT/MGMT)
- Fulfillment of the residency requirement (see Academic Policies section); and Clearance of all indebtedness to the University, including the return of all materials borrowed from the University Library
