PHIL 3330 Philosophy of Science and Medicine
This course is an examination of philosophical questions concerning science and medicine. Some questions examined in philosophy of science concern theories of science’s historical development and the structure of scientific revolutions, views of the scientific method and what demarcates science from non-science, the nature and possibility of scientific knowledge, science and society, and science and values. Some questions examined in philosophy of medicine concern varieties of medicine, the goals of medicine, the nature of health and disease, medical nihilism, and medical cosmopolitanism.
