GRBO 3351 Great Books Seminar: Classical Thought and the Christian Synthesis

What can we learn by reading and examining texts from classical thought to the Christian synthesis? What is being expressed and questioned? What were their understandings of the human condition? Other topics that may be examined include identity, belonging, family, friendship, love, conflict, war, tolerance, art, music, hospitality, drinking, commerce, and religion. This course explores thought from the Pre-Socratics to Boethius.
