BIOL 4320 Biochemistry I
This course formulates the association between the inert world of chemistry and the living world of biology. This course explores the chemistry, structure and function of biochemical macromolecules, proteins, and their function. Mechanisms of enzyme action and kinetics, membrane bioenergetics, and introduction of the metabolic pathways / regulatory mechanisms are covered in detail. This course also discussed why diseases occur if normal cellular processes are disrupted and various biological technologies whose roots are in biochemistry. The laboratory will focus on competency in performing basic biochemical techniques through successful application of modern technologies and analyzing data.

CHEM 2311 with a grade of C or better
