The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a need analysis form a student must complete in order to determine eligibility for federal, state, and some institutional aid. Specifically, it is the application for federal grants, loans, and student employment programs. The FAFSA collects income, assets, and household information about the student and their family (if applicable) to determine the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The EFC is an estimate of the amount the student and/or the student's family can contribute to the student's education for an academic year. The EFC is used by Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University to determine the student's financial need, which is an indicator for the types of aid the student is eligible to receive.
