PHAS 5728 Clinical Medical Skills
The purpose of this course is to teach students both medical and procedural skills that they will encounter as entry level Physician Assistants in outpatient/inpatient settings including clinics, hospital units, operating rooms and the emergency department. Development of these skills is fostered in both lecture and laboratory experiences utilizing task trainers, high fidelity manikins and standardized patients. Students are expected to demonstrate basic proficiency in common skills presented prior to progression to clinical rotations. Emphasis is also placed on patient safety, quality improvement and positive clinical outcomes.
