HCPB 1710 Phlebotomy
The training course consists of 10 weeks of classroom and technical laboratory instruction followed by a three week, 120 hour, clinical internship. The classroom component of the course includes anatomy, medical terminology, infection control, safety instruction, patient identification, venipuncture complications, and individual professionalism. Specimen collection, equipment usage, sterile technique, and special procedures are taught in the laboratory component of the class. The clinical internship portion of the class requires successful completion of 125 venipuncture draws and dermal punctures.
